The book I read was Makers: The New Industrial Revolution by Chris Anderson.
1) The General theme of the book is trying to explain how there is a new industrial revolution that can change everything. They talk about 3D printing and more are changing making things to machines to computers.
2) This book has connected and enhanced my learning experience in ENT3003 because I learned a lot about how today’s business world is changing in terms of the way our computers change the manufacturing process just like in the first industrial revolution did in the past.
3)The exercise that I would design for the class that was based on "Makers: The New Industrial Revolution" would to list ways that our world has changed in terms of manufacturing. This would engage the student to think about our changing world.
4) In reading this book I had a big surprise reading how much 3D printing has changed the way we can make things. 3D printing is so cheap and easy to use. I was also surprised the things you could print and the wide array of how open source all of this software was.
Hey Zachary, I think you did a decent job on your reading reflection. Personally, I didn't read this book, but you gave a nice gist of what the book was about, and I could get a picture about what the reading was like for you. To be honest, I feel like your assignment could use a little more elaboration or detail in the responses. You did a great job answering the questions with a main idea point, but it would have been nice to get more information from it. Overall, good job on this assignment.
ReplyDeleteZach, I think your assignment idea based off of the book Makers: The New Industrial Revolution, by Chris Anderson, seemed very interesting. I think it would be very cool to look back and see really how much manufacturing has changed over the years. You could possibly also ask students to predict future trends and changes as well. It also surprises me how cheap 3D printing is. When you think about how easy technology is for us to use now compared to the past it is amazing.
ReplyDeleteZach,
ReplyDeleteI did not read this book but found your reflection to be very interesting. Because of technology, our world is constantly changing. I am not very informed on 3D printing but I find the concept quite interesting. I am also surprised to hear that it is cheap because I always heard that it is very costly. It is good that you have learned more about the business world through reading this book and you can apply this new knowledge to the concepts in this course.
